10 September 2008 – Tasmania Yet, another multiple offender against women and children was sentenced in the Supreme Court of Tasmania. The unnamed offender, identity withheld to protect his victims, was sentenced to a minimum of 18-months in jail for raping his 24-year-old intellectually disabled daughter.According to the Australian, the 63-year-old who committed this crime is said to have cancer and severe heart disease and may not live long enough to serve out his sentence. However, he was apparently not too ill to commit the crime, so perhaps he is well enough to pay for it.
Making this behaviour even more reprehensible is the offenders previous convictions. He was previously convicted for indecent assault on intellectually disabled daughter when she was 7 and for incest with her when she was 21. In addition to his previous crimes against the same victim, he was also previously convicted for a sexual assault on his six-year-old niece.
I for one am less concerned about the possibility of him dying in jail, than the risk that he’ll get out and have a chance to do even more harm before he dies.

Good point.
If you can’t do the time don’t do the crime.
