Nora Baladerian receives William Freidrich Award

16 September 2008 – San Diego, CA, USA The ”13th International Conference on Violence, Abuse & Trauma: Working Together to End Abuse” announced Nora J. Baladerian as the winner of this year’s William Friedrich Memorial Child Sexual Abuse Research, Assessment &/or Treatment Award, recognizing her substantial contributions to the field of child sexual abuse.Dr. Baladerian has had a long and distinguished career as a counsellor, advocate, author, and researcher devoting her work to the prevention of violence against people with disabilities.  icad extends its congratulations both to Dr, Baladerian for this recognition of her extraordinary contribution to the field and to IVAT for making this excellent selection

This award is dedicated to the memory of Dr. William Friedrich, Ph.D., who dedicated his life to ending child sexual abuse through research,assessment, and clinical treatment.  This award encourages these qualities by recognizing either new or established researchers or practitioners who have made substantial contributions to the field of child sexual abuse.

NORA J. BALADERIAN, PH.DL is the 2008 Awardee for authoring numerous booklets and articles focusing on child sexual abuse and disabilities, helping to recommend policy changes,developing curriculum, and for providing multidisciplinary training about sexually abused children with disabilities.

Dr. Baladerian is also the founder of CanDo an active listserv sharing information on abuse and disability
