18 February 2009 – Hamilton, ON, Canada Three adults and juvenile were charged in Hamilton, Ontario with the torture of man with mental disabilities who they believe was held captive and abused for at least 3 weeks, possibly for a month. The victim had a skull fracture and a varity of other injuries described as life-threatening. The Toronto Star quoted Police Superintendent Bill Stewart saying:
In 32 years of policing, these are the most disturbing and disgusting acts I have ever seen.
The motive can be best described as sadistic in nature.
The victim’s skull was fractured from repeated beatings with several hard objects and he was deliberately burned and beaten over much of his body.
Stanley Brown, 30, Nathaniel Jug, 22, and Dakota Thompson, 20, were charged with one count each of aggravated assault and forcible confinement. A 17-year-old boy has also been arrested in this case. It is expected the four will also face further charges of aggravated assault, robbery and threatening death. The victim was described as mentally disabled, but no further details were provided.
The victim was beaten, burned, and poisoned and could not have survived much longer if he had not been discovered according to medical authorities. He remains in hospital at this time.
It is reported that sexual assault charges will also be laid in this case.
A neighbor who complained about noise from the apartment was told that the occupants were training for a UFC fighting championship.
