This appears to be a hate crime. It seems that hatred was the primary motivation for thhis attack. The disability status of the student may not have had much to do with it.

This incident should be investigated and prosecuted under civil rights law whether or not the victim was disabled

After reading of the Derrick Everson murder in Washington state, and reading the comments, I attribute much of the cognitive behavior behind such murders, to the Compassion and Choices sick puppies.

The idea that the killer was drinking and smoking dope before the murder, is probably going to be fuel for his attorney to claim that he was not responsible for his actions.

If so, I reckon that the prosecutor should fire-back that the dope and alchohol were a pre-meditated excuse to get off with a lighter sentence, for the pre-meditated gruesome homicide of someone with intellectual disabilities.

The prosecutor could also lecture the court over the undeniable subtle influence of the Compassion and Choices, that their actions in Oregon Health-care only encourage vigilantes to murder people with disabilities.

How many of the people who now grieve for this victim, actively fought to block the legalization of “assisted-suicide”? Disability Rights groups and lawyers should seize this and other cases to wake people up, to not tolerate the Death Cult aggressively controlling State and Federal governments by the media advertising for their “services”.

Today when I saw this post and video, I have a feeling that this cop doesn’t believe he’s in a school for people with learning disabilities. So, he treated him like he was busting a gamg member.

There’s no doubt that the cop thinks he’s a real patriot, trying to clean up the school. With these types of attitudes, and he’s a White racist, he can’t protect anybody, even himself.

I don’t care how big he feels with his gun, club, tazer and his badge, guys like him are walking a fine-line. Every country and city needs police-officers, but too many cop-shops are populated with legalized gangs.

In my opinion, ths guy isn’t a cop.–And he isn’t an American patriot! He’s a real psycho who needs to be treated, one way or another.

Correction to your Tavernier, FL story. This young girl is absolutely mortified that this story is basically national. The family was told that no information would be leaked, and instead even the girl’s address was made public. Since you have this story on your website, I would like to correct that the abuser is not the mother’s boyfriend. This “pig” was like a grandfather to the girl and was the boyfriend of another family member.

Further to Sam’s point… Erving Goffman used the term “master status” to refer to this phenomenon. A master status is any trait or attribute that people see as so important that it explains everything about a person. For example, for some people disability status, or religion, or gender become a master status, that some people will use to explain everything that happens to the exclusion of other more relevant factors. Any of these attributes may be legitimately important in circumstances where they are relevant, but people are much more than just these things. Assuming that we can best understand this tragedy by focusing on the child’s disability may just make any real understanding of this event more difficult.

The demise of this father and son is tragic. What may be even more tragic is the apparently automatic inferential leap by their neighbors to the conclusion that there is a causal link between their demise and the son’s autism.

We should not be so easily seduced into the belief that murder-suicide is an understandable reaction to autism in the family.

I’m a therapist that makes house calls for Seniors that don’t drive or get out. Three years ago my client pointed out this male neighbor that had befriended her husband and her. I told her to beware. Every time I came, he would leave before I could get in the house from the car to meet him. I ask my clients his name and went to the police department to check up on him.
He already owed them quite a bit of money, telling them he would pay it back. He told them not to tell any one.
This man has a police record. They keep hoping he will pay it back. This elderly couple have a son who is blind and needs help from time to time. This neighbor man has taken the seniors car with out paying for it and money with out producing the product for the money.
He has been extorting money from them for more then three years now. What can I do? These people have given more then three thousand dollars to them. I think they are afraid of him because he lives across the street.
Last winter, I shoveled their heavy covered side walk and he came running across the street yelling at me that it was his job. He thretened me and said if I was going to do it he would never be back again.
He is supposed to be paying off his debt by working but he keeps conning them out of more money.
Please tell me what I can do to help them.

Please inform me of any & all attorneys you are aware of in IL-CA-TX-MN-that represent the physically disabled who have been abused. I’m having enormous difficulty locating attorneys with guts & decency to represent physically disabled indigent plaintiffs on a contingency or pro bono or “no fee unless we win basis”. Research diligently & inform me ASAP. Thanks for all your help. Scott.

I work at a state facility and all in all you cant blame the whole facility for what 1% of the workers did wrong. that’s stereotyping. I take pride in my job, and when i’m at work as far as the individuals i take care of, im all they have. 95% of individuals i work with families don’t even visit them and some live less than 10 minutes away. punish the abusers for they deserve it, but please please, praise the ones who work their tails off. We never get any credit. The attention stays on the 1% who were abusers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m not sure it’s an either/or choice. We can acknowledge that she was a victim but also acknowledge that she was ultimately responsible for her actions – or inactions – in regard to a child’s health, wellbeing and his very life.
